Adjudicators: John Doyle and Ian Brownbill
Conductor: John Berryman
Position: 4th (Qualification to the 2015 Grand Shield)
Winter Gardens, Blackpool, April 26 2014

John Doyle:

Opening – yes band – what an opening. Wow. Just listen to unison tuning on long notes and get in tune. A little scrappy on quavers after 10 but it recovers. 20 – Great bass noise. 30 – scrappy solo cornet (and Sop I think). Troms are epic. This is full of energy Mr/Mrs MD. 50 – Good Sop & Rep. 60 – not so good! Lovely balanced chord into poco lento. Musical Euph & Flug (bass had a mis-fire) but it didn’t affect the flow.

British Open Spring Festival - Senior Trophy 2013

Test Piece: Journey into Freedom (Eric Ball)
Adjudicators: Lynda Nicholson & Simone Rebello
Conductor: John Berryman
Positon: 3rd (Qualification to the 2014 Senior Cup)
Winter Gardens, Blackpool, May 11 2013

Lynda Nicholson:

Very convincing start – all well in place with well balanced sound. Alla Marcia – this is a touch fast for me, but you convince me as all is well under control. 7 onwards there are a few moments where the rhythm and tempo are not secure. 11 - this could be a little more Maestoso for me. Great move into 12. Agitato just right. Nicely done Rall into Andante. Moderato – this does not feel as well under control as your opening and there is some untidiness as a result.
